Welcome to the Fall 2025 Herbert H. Lehman Leadership Certificate Program application!

Please complete the form with your information to apply for our free courses. Our certificate courses help elevate your academic experience as it allow you to:

  • Connect with key resources on campus
  • Learn about opportunities such as internships


Introduction to Leadership: Asynchronous Online

Learn about essential concepts behind leadership! This 5-week program will help you identify your strengths and leadership identity while connecting these to your academic major and career goals. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate and digital badge in Introduction to Leadership.
Offered online asynchronous via Google Classrooms. 
Starts September 29th and ends October 27th.

Public Speaking: Hybrid
This hybrid masterclass is designed to build confidence and sharpen your public speaking skills at your own pace. Meeting you where you are in your speaking journey, this course offers practical tips, techniques, and insights to help you communicate effectively in any setting. Led by a 2024 TEDX CUNY Speaker, you will gain tools to deliver powerful presentations and get a head start on preparing for future TED Talk applications. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate and digital badge in Public Speaking.
Online via Zoom: September 9th, September 16th

Foundations of Leadership Masterclass: In-Person
This four-week masterclass introduces students to the fundamentals of leadership identity, styles, and practices. Students will engage in meaningful dialogue exploring what makes effective leaders, analyze national and international leadership examples, and become aware of campus resources that support their leadership growth. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate and digital badge in Introduction to Leadership.

Civic Engagement and Leadership: In-Person
Learn hard and soft skills to become a successful leader and advocate, transferable to any group setting. This in-person workshop includes highlights from the Harvard Civic Engagement Series, social advocacy, and writing to government representatives. Students will receive a certificate and digital badge in Civil Service upon program completion.

Stories in Beads- Leadership, Art, and Social Change: In-Person
Discover the Social Change Model of Leadership through a hands-on, creative experience! In this leadership story-telling workshop series, participants will explore their leadership values while making beaded crafts. All materials will be provided at no cost. Finished pieces will be donated to be sold at the Faculty Holiday Party, with proceeds benefiting a charity chosen by the group during the first class. Participants’ leadership stories and artwork will be profiled as part of the final showcase. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate and digital badge for Advanced Leadership.
